As Clinical Director of Aware, Dr Andrea Higgins is focused on enhancing Aware’s services through evaluation, research and clinical service development to ensure continued gold standard service provision. Prior to joining Aware, she held a number of senior roles as a Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist within both the voluntary and public sectors and has developed and provided clinical services to those experiencing depression and bipolar disorder within different clinical populations. Since 2016, she has been Chair of the Division of Clinical Psychology within the Psychological Society of Ireland. She also currently holds the roles of Clinical Tutor in Trinity College Dublin and Adjunct Lecturer in University College Dublin and is a member of the European Huntington's Disease Network working groups.
Andrea was a member of the board of the Neurological Alliance of Ireland from 2014 - 2018, holding the position of Vice-chair between 2016 – 2018. She completed her clinical training in University College London (UCL) and holds an MSc. in Clinical Neuroscience from the Institute of Neurology, UCL and BA in Psychology from UCD. Within her role in Aware, she is committed to further developing nationwide access to gold standard services for people experiencing depression and bipolar disorder.
